Leadership Development for a Successful Performance Management Execution in Global Bank

Context

  • Biggest bank in Europe with assets of 1,460 BN €, presence in 20 countries, more than 200,000 employees and 130 million customers.

  • Big cultural transformation to become more customer centric and to evolve their management style to a more collaborative one to best compete better against new players. 

  • As part of the change, the company launched a new performance management system that give a big weight to  leadership behaviors (HOW) in addition to financial/business objectives. 

Approach

  • Designed and facilitated a 7-month process to support a group of 200 senior leaders to embrace a new way of driving performance that ensures a balance between the WHAT and the HOW and does not depend only on hierarchy implementation of the new organizational roles.

  • The program had 4 main interventions of 2 days each with follow up activities in between both online and face to face.

  • The program followed the model WOTS which helps participants embrace the new leadership paradigm and new ways of working inspired in the Agile methodology. 

Results

  • Evolution of mindset and behaviors of senior leaders who had to learn a new way of managing their teams.

  • Strong alignment behind new performance management system.  

  • Development of core capabilities that are crucial to help teams excel in core leadership behaviors.
